Dear Friends,

I hope wherever you are… you’re drinking in the beauty of this first day of Spring. Today I took a drive to my favorite mountain spot and saw the snow beginning to melt, water moving through the ice, and tree branches and shrubbery turning gorgeous colors of spring green, vibrant orange-red, and golden yellow. The sky was clear blue and bicyclists were sharing the road.

Driving through nature always causes me to be reflective. As I observed the thought stream running through my mind I watched various images dance by…

Diapers, wipes and onesies, yoga sutra and asanas, knitting, fresh baked rye bread, faces popping up and memories of recent interactions with people…some good and some bad.

I felt joys and  regrets, longings, and comparisons. I felt love and sadness.

…and that doesn’t begin to account for the physical sensations I witnessed.

As the observer, I was able to recognize the distinction between what my mind was up to, and what was real in the “here and now.”

“Observe the space between your thoughts, then observe the observer.” ~Hamilton Boudreaux

“Mindfulness isn’t difficult, we just need to remember to do it.” ~Sharon Salzberg

Arriving back in the present I was able to settle into the beauty surrounding me at which point, gratitude swelled within me and nothing else mattered.

Practice, practice, practice.

Sending you the warmest of thoughts on this beautiful day.

May you always find your cup half full 🙂
